Upcycled Dining Room Table

Can I say this simple project is one of my all-time favorites?

Completing upcycled furniture projects is something I love to do!

Did I say simple? Yes! When you break down a DIY project into steps, they are all simple! And I will hold your hand through each of the repurposed projects!

Our client did not need a table for her dining room. A family member gave this old dining table to her and she wanted to keep it. She came up with the idea to turn it into a coffee table.

With one cut, this old table became a gorgeous coffee table. Our client loved it and it has become a statement piece in her home!

Cutest Plate Wall Christmas Tree Idea

We were looking for a way to display a Christmas tree between the living room and kitchen area in our own home. We came across the idea of a plate wall Christmas Tree.

This is a great idea if you want to show off old plates. You can find them at flea markets, yard sales, antique shops, or thrift stores. This plate wall is a good use of mismatched plates.

We collected vintage ironstone and transferware plates over the last year. Then I hung them in the shape of a Christmas tree. The tree topper is a small piece of vintage ironstone called a butter pat. Easy Peasy!

Vintage Inspired Buffet Tablescape

Speaking of old dishes, this vintage-inspired buffet tablescape utilizes old items like dishes.

I gathered antique ironstone dishes, vintage silver pieces, and an antique lace tablecloth. Then I placed them on an old table I had made over.  This created a festive buffet tablescape.

Each old cabinet door hanging on the wall acts as a picture frame for the vintage glass ornament trees. Aren’t they so pretty displayed on the chicken wire attached to each old door?

Doesn’t that get your creative juices flowing?

Thrift Store Wreath Makeover

This fall wreath had seen better days and I knew all that it needed was a little time and attention.

The wreath needed to be painted different colors so I pulled out the chalk paint. Neutral colors are my style.

After toning down the bright orange colors, the wreath looked so much better! All it needed was an easy-to-make bow using natural colored raffia.

DIY Backdrop Wall for YouTube

Our garage workshop needed a makeover so that I could have a place to record the YouTube videos we make. We cleaned out the garage and used an electric sprayer to spray paint the whole space.

Then we decided to add a feature wall using old picket fence boards. We have used old fence boards for many projects here at Reinvented Delaware.

I still use my craft room to record many of my YouTube videos, especially in the winter. But having this outdoor space for my projects is so much fun!

Painted Pillow Covers

I found a new use for celery! Yes, I said celery! You are going to love this simple project!

The handmade throw pillow covers are easy to assemble and are the perfect size for our sofa. See what a little bit of fabric and some chalk paint magic can do? I used drop cloths to make these washable pillow covers so they cost next to nothing!

The colors I chose are for fall, but let your creative juices flow. Think about the other colors you could use for different seasons! The method is so simple and it’s a fun way to use the ends of celery!

DIY Boho Side Table

Boho isn’t the style I decorate our own home in but many people love it. Our local customers loved the boho look. We no longer sell our items at a local vintage shop. We enjoyed repurposing projects for the local shoppers. Now we repurpose projects for our home.

When I saw this sweet little side table for only $5, I knew I had to grab it! This easy DIY project is as simple as painting and applying peel-and-stick wallpaper with a boho pattern.

Soooo easy and so much fun to do!

How to Paint a Dresser Black

This year I had the opportunity to makeover two pieces of furniture with each of my two girls. It was such a joy to work alongside them!

The first was this old dresser set. One of my daughters was expecting a new baby (he’s arrived!) and she found this incredible dresser set. She wanted to make it her own and also make it handsome for her little boy.

Black chalk paint was the best solution! Follow my step-by-step instructions in this post for a perfect paint finish!

Rub-On Transfers for Furniture

My other daughter came across this old furniture piece. You will love this armoire. It’s a gorgeous piece of furniture! The armoire was just waiting for her at her local thrift store.

She wanted something special done with it. We came up with the idea to use magnolia transfers from Dixie Belle. The transfers are easy to use giving a fresh look to this furniture makeover project.

The satisfaction of repurposed furniture makeovers is like none other. Taking the old and giving it a second life is the best way to spend my day. Especially when it is spent with someone I love!

And I got to spend two days with my two daughters giving old furniture makeovers!

What’s coming next year?

The coming year is going to be an exciting one here on the blog. In January, I will be joining three talented bloggers in a Virtual Book Club. Let me tell you all about it!

Each month, we will choose a book and then share a home decorating-inspired post based on that book. We will also be sharing a recipe or some other food-related idea based on the book.

The home decor post will be on the 4th Thursday of each month and the food-related post will be on that Saturday.

We’ve already decided on our first book, Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. We’re all getting ideas of what our posts will be about. I’m especially looking forward to the project I will share. Fingers crossed it all goes as I have planned in my head!

Feel free to suggest one of your favorite books for our monthly Virtual Book Club. We may pick your suggested book! Wouldn’t that be fun?

Along with the new Virtual Book Club Series, I will continue to share thrift store upcycles, some furniture makeovers, and all sorts of vintage-style home decor inspiration with you!

I’ll even be sprinkling in some easy recipes for dinner, salads and a few sweet treats!

Many of the projects included in this post were completed using Dixie Belle products. The supplies that Dixie Belle offers for the DIYer are outstanding. I will continue to use them in the coming year for many of our makeovers and upcycles!
