she shed charm
You can see why I am enamored with this adorable small garden shed we created in our backyard outdoor space. This potting shed sits off our main house by about 25 yards. It is located in the perfect spot in our yard because I can see it from the large windows of the French doors in our dining room.
She sheds became popular about 20 years ago and I have wanted one since. Finally this summer we were able to build my own shed! I have several blog posts and YouTube videos showing the process and details of this cute backyard shed.
We use this she shed for several purposes:
- a storage shed for gardening supplies and tools
- a small DIY greenhouse as a dedicated space to start seedlings in the spring
- a special place for my grandkids to learn about gardening
- a backyard retreat for the perfect place to read a good book or have coffee with a friend
- a home office where I can use my laptop to do some of the busy work for my blog

she shed fall decorating ideas
This adorable potting shed is the perfect space to decorate for fall. I can see the front of the she shed from our home and our backyard and I love the idea of adding some of my favorite things for fall decor.
heirloom pumpkins
This by far is the easy way to decorate for autumn. Heirloom pumpkins can be found at your local garden center as well as some grocery stores.
I visited a local farmers market and picked up some of the pumpkins and gourds. They ranged in price from, $10 up to $20.
The pumpkin stacks were pricey especially the stacks that had huge pumpkins. I stayed away from those because this is a budget-friendly decorating idea. And also because I am cheap!
BTW, I have plans to harvest the seeds from the pumpkins and gourds so that I can plant them in our veggie garden next year!
I also found a great deal on pumpkins at the local farm stand that is only one mile from our home. One small stack of three cost only $12!

thanks for being here!

cast iron water tank stand
The pumpkin stacks that I bought are on the small side. They needed some height. So I hunted through my stash.
This antique cast iron water tank stand is perfect for holding a pumpkin stack. This vintage find would also be an ideal place for a seasonal mum. Can’t you imagine a white mum or maybe a deep purple mum sitting on top of this piece of history?
Look through your own stash of vintage goodies and you will come up with creative ideas for a pumpkin stack or a potted mum. There are so many options!

country garden plants
We love to garden around here. Hubby is an avid gardener in the vegetable garden and I prefer the flower gardens.
For this little space, I wanted to use fall vegetables. I planted leaf lettuce which adds a gorgeous bright green.
I also planted kale in this beautiful purple color. I’ve already harvested the kale to make a delicious fall soup! I will be sharing that recipe soon!
Decorative kale is also a beautiful addition to the she shed fall decorating, don’t you think?

antique furniture as a plant stand
This sweet little antique child’s chair has been with me for years. I still love it as much as when I first found it about 10 years ago at our favorite outdoor vintage market.
It cost $6 and has been in many areas of our home. I sealed it with an outdoor clear top coat and it’s good to go for years.
An odd-shaped pumpkin and a thrifted copper watering can look perfect! The flowers are fresh cut and include black eyed susans, asparagus fronds, and green foxtail. They give a cottage vibe for this fall look that cost zero dollars!

vintage wheelbarrow
A wheelbarrow is another vintage piece that is perfect for fall. I found this one while out thrifting at an open flea market with one of my daughters. It was only $15!
I filled it with a thrifted wire basket to hold some straw and some pumpkins. Sitting on its side makes it seem I loaded the pumpkins from our garden!
Next year, I hope to have some of these pumpkins growing in our vegetable garden and I can fill the wheelbarrow to the brim with free pumpkins!

old wooden bench
This wooden bench has been with us for years. I recently gave it a fresh coat of paint and it looks much better than it did! It’s the perfect seating area for the garden.
What should I put on the bench? I’m waiting for the paint to completely cure before placing anything on it. I would love to hear your ideas!
This is how I decorated the wooden bench for summer. As soon as I snapped the image, I took everything off of the bench. The paint needs to cure for long-lasting adhesion.

wreath for the old door
I had a hard time deciding what wreath to put on this adorable she shed! I’m sharing four options below so you can help me choose! Let me know in the comments your favorite pick for this garden shed!
Here are close-ups of each wreath. Tap on each image and you can see the full tutorial. You will be inspired to make your own wreath for your home while you choose the one I should put on my garden she shed!
Be sure to tell me your wreath choice down in the comments at the bottom of this post! Thanks for your input!

more fall decorating ideas for a she shed
Once I started adding the fall touches to this garden shed, the ideas for more decorative items kept popping into my mind. Let’s get creative with this list of fall shed decor ideas!
- Add string lights in the trees around the she shed leading up to the front door. Choose fall-themed lights or vintage-inspired patio lights with faux Edison bulbs.
- Install window boxes under the window and add fall florals.
- Include a small table next to the vintage child’s chair. Place a mini pumpkin on the table.
- A potting bench with mums and pumpkins stacked on top would add a rustic look to the outside of this garden shed.
- Shop your local flea markets for any vintage pieces that you could use for fall decorating. Old galvanized pots, vintage garden tools, old watering cans, a vintage seed spreader are just a few ideas for you to look for!

It’s perfect Cindy and comes at the perfect time. We just started working on our garden shed and I can’t wait to be able to make it my own. I love their fish sandwich Fall touches you’ve added. Pinned!
Have fun in your she shed.
xo, Do 😘
Sorry I actually meant that wreath #2 with the corn husks works better for me.
Thank you! It’s hard to pick a fave 😊
I’m excited to see your she shed project Do! You are going to do a fabulous job! Happy building 🥰
I love the simplicity of the corn husk wreath. It kind of blends in and it’s not noticeable. Gosh, you make this difficult! I have to vote for #1. This little pumpkin wreath is adorable and it makes a statement on your beautiful old door.
Thanks for voting! They were all so cute, I couldn’t decide!
Wreath #3 suits the shed better
Thanks for chiming in!
I just love your little shed! The fall decor is charming and-yes- I love heirloom pumpkins too. My favorite wreath is number 2 – with the corn stalk leaves.
Your she shed looks amazing, especially with all the lovely fall touches! I would love to see the inside as well sometime, or maybe you’ve already shown that? I like all of the wreaths, especially 1 and 3, but I would probably choose no. 3 to bring out a little blue.
That little she shed is my special spot! I did post about the interior. Here is a link. Also, I have several videos about the she shed on my YouTube channel! They are fun to watch. Here is the blog post link showing the interior: https://www.reinventeddelaware.com/garden-shed-ideas-interior/
Hi Cindy ,
The she shed is very cute and you have given me some ideas as to how I can put my screen enclosures that I made for my lani .Right now I have them screwed on but with the way you have your windows opening on the shed it has showed me a way to be able to open them so that I can let some air flow through. I really don’t have anywhere to store them because they are big , so that would work out well . And I like the # 4 door wreath
Teresa, sounds like you have a plan for your screen enclosures! I’m so glad you found inspiration here!
Hi Cindy! Your she shed turned out fabulous and looks so festive decorated for fall! I like wreath #1! I will share this with my readers on Saturday in our Seasonal Sentiments Rewind Newsletter! I hope you have a Happy Fall!
Donna, thanks so much for sharing our shed with your readers! I hope they enjoyed it!
Cindy — that little shed of yours is so charming! So much fun to see how you decorated outside and inside. You’ve got such a good eye for thrifty decorating! I vote for wreath number 1 for the front door. P.S. Loved the video for this project!
Thanks Karen! That little shed has become my fave spot in our yard. I could spend the whole day out there if it weren’t for blogging 🤣 Thanks for watching the video!
That shed is so cute. I would go with wreath #4, but I’m a sucker for pine cones. As a kid growing up my Grandparents had a Christmas tree farm. It was magical. I’m inspired to spiff up my shed a bit for fall
I’m a sucker for pine cones too! They are so useful for crafts for any season! Your grandparenst Christmas tree farm sounds amazing. Happy decorating your shed!
