Let’s start with this adorable farmhouse vignette. For starters, the rustic farmhouse-style table was a yard sale find. It was dark brown and we gave it a couple of coats of Fusion Mineral Paint in Picket Fence. We gave it a chippy look and it was finished!

Speaking of picket fences, see that wall decor hanging in the background? Yep, you guessed it – it’s a couple of sections of fence pickets held together with a strip of wood on the back. We added a wire hanger with a couple of screws and wa-la — wall decor!

We have also made these signs with words like ‘blessed’ and ‘thankful’ painted on them. This could be done with a Cricut machine too!

Not into words on signs? No worries – hang a seasonal wreath with the pickets and you have a unique and creative wall decor piece!

I am a huge spindle fan. In fact, I have boxes of them spilling out in my workshop! I’m not sure what it is about a spindle, but I love them!

Hubby took a spindle I had leftover from a project and added some interesting pieces from a burl in a log he found. He kept the bark on one of the sections and planed the other side so it would have a level surface.

Isn’t this a unique riser?

If you see in the menu buttons at the top of my blog, then you have seen that I have a category called Textile Tutorials. Sewing has been in my life since I was a wee little girl – nine years old in fact!

So when I see these adorable drawers from antique sewing machine cabinets, I can’t turn them down! I added some spindles and gave it a wash of milk paint leftover from another project. Instant tabletop or countertop organizer!

Use it in the kitchen to hold wooden spoons or maybe a selection of teabags. Use it in the bathroom to store makeup or lotions. Add a couple of glass jars and use them for a floral arrangement!

Here is another beauty. It’s not exactly a repurposed project but it certainly is refreshed! This tea cart started our dark, dark brown and it was dull and ordinary. We painted the base of the tea cart in Fusion Mineral Paint and then a whitewashed effect on the top.

Wouldn’t this make an amazing side table between two chairs? Maybe on a sunporch? Think of the conversations that could happen at this vintage tea cart!

Vintage toolboxes. Need I say more?? I am crazy over these things! We added a picket fence lid that we made like the wall decor I mentioned earlier. Then we added casters. This is farmhouse portable storage at its finest, don’t you think?

Here is the vintage wooden tool caddy. Just like toolboxes, I love these because they represent a craftsman who worked with his hands. This one got a good scrubbing and a coat of hemp oil.

With the fall season around the corner, I can see this filled with pumpkins and dried corn husks. When Christmas comes, fill it with a variety of small trees from Hobby Lobby.

Here is a fun little project! This is a thrifted wooden tray that I attached antique casters to. I just drilled holes the size of the caster, added E6000 glue to the hole, and then inserted the post of the caster into the hole.

The whole thing was painted. Another farmhouse riser! You won’t find something like this in stores. And if you do, tell them it was my idea!!

I seriously must have something about risers! Here is another one. This is another one of those wooden trays I found while out thrifting. It had a chunk of wood in the center that I think might have held a nutcracker. I removed it and then attached the tray to a lamp base.

Yep, that’s the base of a lamp with all the wires and such removed! I painted the whole thing in milk paint and sealed it with hemp oil.

Don’t you love it??

Here is a vintage paper roller. This cast iron piece would have sat at the end of a butcher’s counter with a roll of white paper that would have been used to wrap the cuts of meat. This one had the blade missing but that isn’t a problem for me! We love sparing these items from the trash heap just because they are missing a little piece!

I gave it a good cleaning and then waxed it. Doesn’t it look so pretty with the faux florals? The florals could be changed out so easily depending on the season.

How about adding some rocks to the bottom and creating a little succulent garden for your kitchen! The ideas are endless!

rescued ironstone

You might be wondering about this little stack of three ironstone plates and thinking about how I repurposed them. I didn’t repurpose them, but I did rescue them.

Since they are a set of three, many people would overlook them. Not me. I have stacks of small ovals ironstone plates that do not match and I love every single one of them!

Use them as dessert plates, or small side dish plates. Use them under a live plant so water doesn’t go everywhere. Use them as a soap dish or to coral the dish soap and scrubber next to the kitchen sink.

But whatever you do, don’t overlook these little gems! Or else, send it to me — I need more 😉

reclaimed fabric scraps

Need to show a little patriotism at your house? Here is a fun way that takes hardly any time to make. Grab a chair spindle (you can borrow one of mine! haha!) and then add a piece of leftover grain sack style fabric in red stripes. Iron on some fabric stars and use some wire on the spindle to hang it on the wall!

You could easily whip up a batch of these and give them out as Christmas gifts to your neighbors. Wouldn’t that be fun to share a little USA patriotism in the neighborhood?

Here is my last repurposed project for the day. Leftover pieces of grain sack fabric. I used the fabric to reupholster a gorgeous pair of Italian-made caned chairs. That’s a furniture makeover you don’t want to miss!!

Fabrics scraps do not go to waste around here so I repurposed them into various-sized farmhouse tote bags. Each one is a bit different so I could use the fabric scraps with very little waste.

I need to teach a tutorial on making a simple tote bag. These were so easy, I know you could whip up one in a weekend.
