You’ll be able to tell right away which images I blended – or else, you might think I did a terrible job on the dresser makeover!! Haha!

Welcome to a Tour of Our Guest Bedroom

chalk paint dresser makeover

Let’s start off with one of the first pieces I used chalk paint on. This dresser belonged to one of my sisters and she didn’t need it any longer. So of course, I took it off her hands!

This antique dresser fit in our guest bedroom perfectly but one of our daughters needed it for her new apartment. So it’s moved on to another life!

How to Lighten Dark Stained Wood

dark stained dresser makeover

This is part two of a dresser makeover. Let me explain.

One of our Instagram followers asked if we could re-do some antique furniture pieces her mother owned (more on that later in this post.) We said of course we can!

After seeing what we were able to do for her mother’s antique furniture, she asked if we could do the same for a piece she had. The piece was used to store tools like screwdrivers and a measuring tape for small projects she worked on for their home.

Needless to say, I don’t think she is using it for tools anymore! See the transformation story by clicking the button below!

Antique Dresser Makeover with Milk Paint

milk painted dresser

Using milk paint on antique furniture just seems right, don’t you think? And it is so easy to use! Milk paint was the perfect fit for this dresser that I found while out thrifting with one of our daughters.

The wood was very orange as you can see and we needed to change that!

How to Paint a Dresser Black

One of our girls is expecting a little boy in a couple of months and she & her hubby have been busy beavers getting his room together. She texted me pics one day with two matching solid oak antique dressers and asked if it was a good price at $300.

Of course, I said yes! I had no idea that these pieces had already been refinished in natural oak and needed no repairs! That’s not the norm around here!

She and I had a blast refinishing these dressers over for the sweet baby who is soon-to-be-here! Click the button below to see how we did it!

Repurposed Dresser Converted to Bathroom Vanity

Many of our social media followers are local to our area here in Delaware. One of those followers asked if we could convert her antique oak three-drawer dresser into a bathroom vanity for their home.

Hubby jumped on the idea! He loves to find new uses for furniture pieces like this. Our client already had purchased the vessel sink and the faucet. She was still on the lookout for just the right hardware. The color she chose is gorgeous!

Remember the daughter I mentioned earlier that follows us on the socials? She wanted us to makeover some antique furniture pieces for her mom.

This was the first piece we worked on. Can you believe how gorgeous this gentlemen’s dresser turned out?? I’ve never seen anything prettier! Or should I say ‘handsome!’

Antique Gentlemen’s Dresser Makeover

You just can’t go wrong with a color like black. It is a color that goes in every decor style and I think it looks especially handsome on an antique gentlemen’s dresser like the one below.

The tear drop drawer pulls, the carvings, the small storage boxes on the top – everything about this dresser makes my heart go pitter-patter!

Scroll Work Dresser

Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint – Arabesque

Hubby texted and said he found a really unusual piece of furniture. It was tall and narrow and had all this scroll work on each drawer.

“Do you want me to pick it up for you?” Well, what do you think I said to him? Haha! “yes, yes, and YES!!”

I had no idea the original paint job was so bad! But we fixed that with a beautiful shade of pink milk paint called Arabesque. You don’t want to miss this dresser makeover! Click the button below to see it!

Antique Dresser Transformation in Milk Paint

This antique dresser was almost in pristine condition. It only needed a minor repair and a good cleaning. The dresser makeover included getting rid of the musty odors that antique and vintage furniture can have.

But then again, she is pretty old so she is bound to have a few smells! The drawer joinery gives away her age. You will not want to miss this detail!

Antique Dresser Makeover Reveal

Bergere milk painted dresser

Another mother-daughter situation came our way with this antique dresser makeover. The daughter contacted me and asked if we had a three-drawer dresser in our stash.

“Well, of course, I do!” We had been purchasing so many dressers during that time – they were coming from everywhere – auctions, estate sales, and yard sales. I had them stacked up in my workshop!

They both fell in love with this piece and wanted it to be painted in a soft light blue. Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint makes a lovely color called Bergere that I knew would be the perfect color. They also wanted beautiful hardware. Yeah, we made mama pretty happy with our choice!

With all these dresser makeover ideas I thought you might like to know how you can gussy up the interior of the drawers on some of these pieces.

Often, the drawers have stains that cannot be cleaned out. This technique can add a touch of vintage to the drawer interiors as well as hide the stains. It’s super easy to do and you could use this technique for other projects!
