Bullet Journal Set Up 2020

I know, I know it is a little late in January for a Bullet Journal Set up! But I wanted to share more than just the 2020 set up with you! Let me give you a little back story.

little back story

A couple of weeks ago, I attended a Goals and BuJo Workshop at Wilderlove Handmade and Vintage. The workshop was taught by Kate from Chasing Wonderment. She did an amazing job of guiding us towards our goals. I encourage you to check out her site. She has lots of resources to help you identify and reach your goals!

my new bullet journal

Before I get too deep into that subject, let me show you my 2020 set up in my BuJo. This year I chose to use the Dingbats A5+ in the Wildlife Collection called The Blue Whale.

The A5+ is just a tad bigger than my previous Leuchtturm A5. Also the paper is a heavier 100 gsm quality. I am loving the paper soooooo much!

Last year, I chose a word for the year to focus on. This year I am doing the same. There is alot of room to grow in the department of surrender 🙂

beginning page spreads

This next spread is my yearly log. I have found it so helpful to have a place to jot down all the appointments that will come throughout the year. Next journal I purchase, I plan on changing this spread to four pages. I like the idea of having more space. This year it just didn’t occur to me until after I had this spread laid out!

Another spread that I use alot is for birthdays and anniversaries. In 2018, I managed to send a hand painted birthday card to everyone on my list. But then came 2019 and it all fell apart!

But this is a new year 😉

We track the mileage for our business. It might as well be pretty 🙂

Here is my reading tracker and my social media growth tracker. Let me just say that I am not really obsessed with the numbers in the social tracker. My main goal is to figure out what works and what doesn’t work.

Hopefully, looking at the numbers each month will help me to see that. I want to reach people and teach them about the projects we do here at Reinvented Delaware and this is one way I can see how best to grow my audience.

business life line

This spread is one of the main life lines of my business. We purchase alot of inventory to repurpose and reinvent. I need to know the cost of those items so that I can offer a fair price to our customers and still make a profit for us.

Here is how I manage the inventory:

  • go thrifting, yard sale-ing or auction-ing
  • purchase all the fun vintage and thrifty goodies
  • record each item on this inventory sheet listing the date, cost, place of purchase, description and a final item number when it is complete
  • tag the actual item with painters tape with all the same info
  • store the piece until I start work on it

Once the project is complete, I label it with an inventory number and highlight it. Doing this helps me to spot the projects that are not complete at a quick glance. That makes my weekly planning much easier!

basic page spreads

Ok, so those are the beginning pages of my bullet journal. From here I start with each month. I won’t explain the whole system here. You can read more about my journal in the following posts:

The monthly plan…

Gratitude and social media plan…

The weekly and daily plans…

on to the good stuff!

Finally! Now we are at the new section for this year! As I said, I attended a wonderful Goals and BuJo Workshop presented by Kate from Chasing Wonderment. She encouraged us to grab a sheet of paper and take notes and answer a few questions. Her first questions were:

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

What does your life look like in ten years?

What do you want to have accomplished in ten years?

She wanted us to answer those types of questions while we were at the workshop but I like to think about these sorts of things. So I wrote down the questions she was asking and even more questions that popped into my mind.

I used scrap paper at the workshop and then went home and re-wrote them in my journal. That gave me another chance to really look and think about the answers.

common threads

She had said during the workshop to look for common threads. My common threads were:

  • health concerns
  • relationships
  • soul care

From there, Kate wanted us to set well-defined goals centered around those common themes. She told us to be specific. Goals like: walk three miles, three times per week would apply to the ‘health concerns’ on my list.

getting a plan

Well, being the planner that I am, I decided to set this in motion in the best way for me and how my mind works. Systematically.

If I am concerned about my health in the future, how can I schedule exercise and healthy eating into my every day schedule?

So I wrote out a timeline from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed, hour by hour. I know this sounds nit-picky but just stay with me here. I knew that I had about 16-17 hours in my day — I average 7.5 hours of sleep each night.

So what am I doing in those hours???

How am using those hours to move me towards my goals???

How much time was spent wasted watching TV or scrolling the socials???

enter the ideal day

I have seen many posts talking about creating your “Ideal Day” and honestly thought it was kinda silly. But I didn’t really give it the credit it deserves.

The Ideal Day is NOT your perfect dream day where you sit around eating bon-bons, watching Netflix and having others wait on you hand and foot! Although that sounds kinda nice 😉

The Ideal Day has everything to do with how you are using your 24-hours to live your life and pursue the goals you have!

How am I going to practically prioritize those goals into my day to day?????

So I did it. I wrote out my Ideal Day that includes my goals of health, soul care and relationships (btw those are not in any particular order!)

Hour by hour I have a plan to reach my goals

Mind you, this is not a rigid schedule. I realize I can flex with it as different things come up during the day or week. Doctor appts and such will happen. But this is a good way to bring me back in line and towards reaching my goals.

I also wrote out and Ideal Week. Last week was my first full week using this schedule and admittedly, I need some time to develop some of these habits. Blogging being my biggest downfall! Sorry!!

Going through this goal setting process was so helpful in discovering what is really important to me. I hope you give it a try?

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you have any questions about any of my bullet journal spreads, please feel free to ask! I would love to chat about it. Let’s really DO SOMETHING with the whole ‘live your best life’ motto!!

Be sure to check out Kate’s blog over at Chasing Wonderment. She would love to hear from you!

And we would love you to follow along our goal setting journey as we look for ways to better serve you with projects tutorials!! Instagram is my fave but you can also find us on Facebook and Pinterest!

    Cindy,

I really like the new ideas that you have captured in your new BuJo for 2020: continue to find a focus word for the year; ideal day & week; actual days; goals. I also like the idea of the new BuJo book. I like the Leuchtturnm size, but you mentioned that the one you’re using now has better paper and that you’re liking the bigger size. My present BuJo is the Leuchtturm and I’ve been able to put 2 years into one. I’ve been looking around Pinterest for some new BuJo ideas (day/week/monthly spreads, ideas for what to use the BuJo for, writing techniques, decorating Certain pages), then I remembered you had changed to a different BuJo and wanted to see what you had on your blog. I know I will be looking for a new BuJo for 2021 and since seeing what you’ve shared, I also want to change some things in my current BuJo.

Keep the great ideas coming! Hugs and love to you❤️

Wow!! Two years in one bujo?? I go through one in about a year!! The new journal is great , the paper is thicker and the size is just a tad bigger. Next time we get together I can show you in person! So glad you like the post!

I know, seems strange, huh? But that’s why I enjoyed what you shared on yours. Currently, I do monthly/weekly spreads (11 pages per month), books I’ve read, future logs, index, Only one collection so far. So that’s why I’m looking to put more in my BuJo. I put in my cleaning schedule, habits and gratitude into weekly spreads, I used to do the cleaning, gratitude and habits (fitness, health, devotion) on separate pages, but now I do on a weekly spread-easier for me to add data. I really like the goal setting and the ideal days seem interesting. I’ve ordered the A5+ book from Dingbats on Amazon. So please keep sharing your great ideas! Love and hugs to you both! Stay safe!
