All Things Vintage #5

Another week has passed. It feels that they are moving faster and faster these days.

Especially since we have a big event happening at our home in just a matter of a few weeks!

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that one of our daughters is getting married this May and the wedding is taking place in our back yard!

In fact, the ceremony will be under that lovely curly willow tree 🙂

It has been an undertaking to get our yard ready and extra special for the big event. It’s certainly worth every bit of time and money we are putting into it but nonetheless, it is a bit tiring too.

Hubby has worked tirelessly on the lawn making sure it will be full and lush. He has also worked on the landscaping – 150 bags of mulch have been spread!!

Our soon-to-be son-in-law has been here several weekends helping with the yard work too.

My daughter and I spent last Saturday at our local greenhouse selecting and purchasing over $300 worth of plants for our yard.

Impatiens, petunias, lamb’s ear, and many perennials will help to fill our yard and landscaping in beautifully.

This weekend will be spent planting all of those flowers! I’m really looking forward to getting my hands dirty and making our yard a bit more special 🙂

I’ll try to grab some images and share them next week.

This is my view as I write this blog post. Not bad at all!

this week’s inspiration

This week I have enjoyed watching the Knock Out Roses come to life. Each day they are open just a bit more than they were the day before.

Remember the 1980s hope chest style of furniture? Full of country decals along with all the orange-y tones from back in the day.

With a bit of updating, you can turn one of these storage boxes into a beautiful and useful piece of furniture for your home.

this week from the web

I did a bit of online surfing looking for tutorials on paper flower making and came across this tutorial. One evening, I made a few and really enjoyed the quiet time and the simple process of working with my hands.

As time permits, I’ll share what my paper magnolias look like but in the meantime, here is the tutorial I used to create mine:
