All Things Vintage #14

The mornings in the fall are one of my favorite things. The air is crisp, there is a slight breeze and farmers are working on their harvest. Just glorious!

morning walks

This week, I increased my walk to a total of 3 miles. I walk 1.5 miles out from our home and then 1.5 miles back. The whole thing takes about 45 minutes and it’s a great way to start the day.

On the first day of walking 1.5 miles out, I stopped at this adorable sunflower field and snapped a quick photo. I couldn’t stay too long because it was in someone’s yard! But I couldn’t resist this beauty!

I share a ‘good morning’ story each weekday over on Instagram. My followers can screenshot the image and use it as their phone background. It’s my little gift as a way of saying thank you for following along! Feel free to follow us on Instagram for more lovely pics each morning!

Some of our recent projects

On another morning, my walk led me to a roadside full of corn husks and corn cobs that had been tossed aside by the combine the day before. I gathered as many as would fit into my hoodie front pocket and knew I could come up with something to do with them.

We also found a fun way to use Queen Anne legs from an old table. We joined them with a vintage wooden tool chest. This is one for the books. She’s a beauty!

Just click the images below to head over to the post! The corn husk wreath cost under $5 and can be made in just an hour!

We also fixed up a few more projects. This pie safe needed to be rescued from the 1980s and our porch needed to be rescued from the 1990s!

YouTube video

Over on YouTube this week, I shared a tutorial to achieve an authentic chippy finish with Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint. The technique is super easy and I think you will be amazed with how I use a chef’s knife for this technique!

Instagram Reel

We made this fun reel for our Front Porch Makeover post. Be sure to watch it on Instagram to see how fast I stenciled the concrete floor! Haha, if only it could happen that fast!

Books I am reading

The stack of books on my nightstand is rather tall. I love to read through books just before I fall asleep. And I love to buy books on Amazon 😉

Here are few books I am working on now. Depending on the amount of energy I have at the end of the day, I alternate between books. Salvage Style is a decorating book, Make Something Good Today is a memoir, and How to Win Friends and Influence People is a personal growth book.

My friend Kristin from White Arrows Home recommended the Dale Carnegie book and I have been enjoying it so much! There’s still room for personal growth in our lives!

fall clothing for this year

Fall clothing is on my mind! I’ve ordered the two henley tops below. The jeans are amazing too! I have four pairs in varying shades of denim. The dress is in my cart and I am looking for comfy shoes to go with it.

Do you have any suggestions for comfortable shoes, no heels, kinda like a nice casual shoe that’s cute but not too fancy and super comfy??

Is that too much to ask for in a shoe?? I would love to know your thoughts on shoes for that cute casual dress!

  1. I have a tough time with shoes too these days. With my knees, I have been trying to wear a good flat. I am on the hunt for nice one for dresses. For my chinos, cords and jeans, I wear Sperry. I have a navy pair that I wear all the time and perfect.
